Georgia Nixon is an ambitious criminal lawyer who fights for her clients in court on civil and criminal cases. She attended North Carolina State and earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and then completed her law degree at Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.
Prior to opening her own practice, Nixon Law Offices, in 1995, Georgia prosecuted cases as an assistant district attorney for the state of North Carolina. Her wealth of experience from both sides of the law is an asset for serving as the next Superior Court Judge of North Carolina. She has spent her career handling a wide range of cases in numerous courtrooms ranging from the simple to the complex.
Georgia's interest in the law started when she was young. As Greek immigrants, her parents faced many challenges after coming to the United States from Greece in the 1950s with the goal of starting their own business. Georgia was taught from a young age to have a strong work ethic and to prioritize values, which has helped guide her in her career.
Georgia is not just committed to ensuring justice at the office but also to being involved in the community. She has been a Jamestown council member for 12 years and takes pride in attending her local Greek Orthodox church. Georgia enjoys teaching continuing legal aid classes for other attorneys and has raised almost $200,000 for local charities for the High Point Bar Association for the last 14 years. She has dedicated numerous nights to volunteering as a Teen Court Judge to help the youth of High Point and served on a number of boards. She is the incredibly proud mother of two wonderful daughters, who also attended Campbell Law School.
Georgia is a board-certified specialist in state and federal criminal Law. She has spoken on various topics at numerous CLE's and she has had over 125 successful jury trials. Georgia was featured on an episode of A&E's "Accused, Guilty or Innocent," an international docuseries.
If elected, what Georgia is looking forward to most is using her experience and knowledge of the law to be the best judge she could be.
"I feel like I've served this community well, and I would like to serve it in a different capacity," she said. "I've gone to school here. My kids have gone to school here. I was born here, and so were my kids. I go to church here. This is my neighborhood. This is where I would like to contribute and serve."
